The Importance of Communicating Your Goals With Your Practice Promotions Team

As a new year begins, many people set their sights on new year resolutions, but the difference between resolutions and serious goals is that the latter doesn’t falter after a few short weeks into the new year. (If you are still holding steadfast to your NYR, you’ve got this!).

What we’re talking about here is SMART (specific, Measurable, Achieveable, relevant, and timebound) goals that you’ve set for your marketing efforts throughout 2025. Our team can help with that!

During an upcoming monthly or quarterly call, we encourage you to talk openly with your Customer Success team about what your goals and objectives are for the new year.

Our team is ready and prepared to discuss your goals with you and ensure our targets and measurements align with what you’re planning.

Ensuring we’re all on the same page going into the new year is critical to ensuring we help you hit all your benchmarks in this new year!

We know you’ve got this and we’re here every step of the way! If you haven’t done so already, get in touch with your Customer Success team on Basecamp and get your monthly or quarterly call scheduled today!

Now for a fun topic (we’ve gotten this question from a couple of our clients and knew it would be fun to address it more widely here in our digital bulletin)…

Is ChatGPT the future of online searches?

In the next few years will ChatGPT diminish the presence of Google and Bing!?

Some people in the world are already panicking that Artificial Intelligence (more commonly referred to as “AI”) is going to take their jobs in the coming years. What’s
really got business owners pondering if people will begin going directly to sources such as ChatGPT to perform local searches such as “physical therapy near me.”

We thought this was an excellent question, and our team of SEO specialists provide some great context on what we may see in the future. As our SEO Specialist Chris Anderson puts it, “the majority of searches would be informational, navigational, or commercial.

There’s a couple things to consider regarding the INTENT of the user. Inevitably, every SEO professional would explain to you at the route of the actions, such as building a pretty website and linking pages properly, all the technical elements included – it’s all in vain if it can’t answer a user’s most basic questions. And a question is based on intent

For example, are you wanting to have ChatGPT build you an outline for a research paper, or perhaps share what are some of the careers available in the physical therapy field? These searches or intentions would be considered informational, the end goal of the user is not seeking a service or treatment for a specific condition, rather they’re seeking more knowledge on a particular topic.

The general intent of the people visiting our client’s websites are in search of solving a problem, whether that’s treatment from surgery or a car accident, or they’re in pain and are looking for someone to help solve the problem permanently.

We consider this ‘transaction’ based. The user is seeking “service or treatment for a specific need” and YOU as a professional medical practice are the person who can provide that.

To summarize, the likelihood ChatGPT is used more as a compliment to major search engines to provide specific information or actions is much more likely based on the intent of the user.

There’s one other thing to consider, post ChatGPT’s launch in November of 2022, many other AI-solutions have surfaced including major software companies building their own AI-model internally.

Google of course is the most prominent and has already applied their own internal AI-based models to enhance its search features. Google officially released ‘Gemini’ in December of last year.

The AI solution is seen as an assistive technology that can provide anything from mathematical calculations to comprehending images. While it doesn’t mean tools such as ChatGPT will become obsolete, this type of thing prevents incentivizing users from skipping across platforms to find the information they’re looking for.

Most notably, you will see information displayed as “featured snippets” in your search results that provide an AI overview, meaning in milliseconds the entirety of the search results have been scanned to determine what will answer your user intent most directly and provide it to you right at the top.

Talk about instant gratification!

Moral of the story?

We wouldn’t worry much about users leaning into performing searches like “treatment for back pain” or “physical therapy near me” on ChatGPT (or any other third-party AI tool for that matter) anytime soon.

Rather, we would highly recommend you continue focusing on driving as many reviews to Google and recommendations to Facebook as possible. Add images regularly to both of these platforms, post as frequently as you can, and make sure business information such as your business hours, phone number, and address are accurate on both Google and Bing! (Our team plays a big role in helping with this!)

If the focus stays on providing the best user experience possible on the major search engines, patients use daily, they can find you quicker and easier. That’s the engine to ALL online searches.
